We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in large-scale data analysis, cloud-based machine learning infrastructure, and proficiency in Python (including PyTorch and/or JAX) to join our small team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and optimizing machine learning models and algorithms to identify patterns, predict claim denials, and optimize appeal strategies. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of helping healthcare providers navigate the complex world of insurance reimbursement.Primary
Responsibilities
Design and develop machine learning models and algorithms to analyze healthcare datasets and identify patterns related to claim denials
Implement and optimize cloud-based machine learning infrastructure for model training, deployment, and monitoring
Work with data engineers to preprocess and transform raw healthcare data for model training and evaluation
Conduct thorough evaluations of machine learning models, including performance metrics and robustness
Collaborate with software engineers to integrate ML solutions into our denial management platform
Stay updated on the latest advancements in machine learning and healthcare analytics
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
Experience developing and deploying machine learning models in real-world applications
Strong proficiency in Python programming language and its scientific computing libraries (NumPy, pandas)
Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, JAX, or PyTorch
Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques
Experience working with cloud-based machine learning infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud)
Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed computing
Familiarity with healthcare data formats and standards (HL7, FHIR)
Experience with healthcare claims data analysis
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for ML workflows
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice to haves (not necessary, but would boost your profile significantly):
Strong understanding of EDI standards, protocols, and formats relevant to healthcare claims (e.g., X12 837, 835)
Familiarity with healthcare insurance billing and reimbursement processes
Experience working with insurance payers, clearinghouses, and other healthcare stakeholders
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and other compliance requirements related to healthcare data exchange
Previous experience in healthcare technology startups or related industries
