Cofactor is on a mission to reduce the cost of healthcare for all Americans. We deploy boutique automation studios into health systems to launch AI agents and applications that handle administrative work. We’re venture-backed by top investors like Drive Capital and headquartered in Chicago.
The role
Build AI-powered healthcare workflows alongside the people who use them. As an FDE, you’ll work within a customer deployment pod: learn how a hospital operates, identify a measurable problem, build and launch a solution, then improve it with users. The work spans data analysis, engineering, product decisions, training, and support.
What you’ll do
- Find the right problem before building. Meet users and leaders, examine their data and workflows, define a baseline and target metric, and scope a first release that can show value quickly.
- Build across the stack. Develop data pipelines, integrations, application workflows, and AI components as the problem requires, from claims processing and BigQuery analysis to correspondence classification and clinical-status prototypes.
- Validate with real users and source data. Compare results with ground truth, investigate misses, build accuracy feedback loops, and prioritize fixes by customer value, not just bug count.
- Own the launch experience. Demo and train teams, watch for adoption friction, respond clearly to feedback, and help turn a useful prototype into a dependable daily workflow.
- Make deployment work reusable. Document customer requests and trade-offs, bring recurring gaps to the platform team, and help turn customer-specific builds into products that work across deployments.
What we’re looking for
- Strong software-engineering and data-analysis skills, with the range to work from messy operational data through a user-facing product.
- Comfort talking directly with users, turning what you learn into product scope, and explaining results to both operators and directors.
- Sound judgment about what to build now, what to defer, and how to measure whether it worked.
- A habit of surfacing timeline and quality risks early, rather than silently absorbing launch pressure.
- Willingness to work closely with customer teams, including training and on-site workflow discovery when an engagement calls for it.
